I don’t have any real resolutions for the year. It seems any year that I sit down and come up with any kind of list, I fail on it 2 days later. So with that in mind I’m just going to remain focused and keep on doing what I have been doing.
2009 was such a good year for me… for all of us here really. Who would have thought that DH going to DC for the inauguration would lead to him being fired? Such a small thing1 opened so many doors for us. DH had been talking about starting his own business as far back as I can remember, and he was finally in a position where he was somewhat forced to take that risk. The economy was tanking, no one was really hiring and we felt we had no choice but to take a chance and see what would happen.
It was so worth it. Business took off slow but before we knew it we had a steady stream of work. Good reviews and happy customers.
And now to start off the year yesterday we moved from being a home business to having a retail spot. It’s nothing major or fancy or big, but it’s ours. Our name is on the door, we have a shop in the back and it’s just another small step in the right direction.
Plus, now that that business is taking off I can focus more on my desires. I really don’t know where I want to go with my photography but I love it. I love taking pictures…. pictures of outdoors more than anything which is just bizarre since I hate anything related to being outside. Camping, hiking, fishing… you name it, I don’t want to do it. But for the love of the picture, I find myself willing to take a trip into the woods and get all dirty. We recently bought some camping equipment…. now all I need to do is agree to go. I hope no one is holding their breath.
So I guess I do have a resolution of sorts for the new year and that would be for me to focus more on my photography. It’s been sitting on the back burner for years and now it’s time for me to take the next step with it. Now if only I could figure out what that next step is.
- ok it wasn’t small… it was sneaky and disgusting of them but oh well, we are thriving while they fail. i ♥ karma. [↩]

I’m glad to hear things are going well, and as to your husband getting fired over the inauguration, thriving while they fail is indeed awesome.
I’m like you with the outdoors. I much prefer IN. As in warm and dry and comfy. But good for you for seeing the benefits of getting out there anyway. More power to you!
Good to see you over at the blog today
