They sold me a Lemon.
A defective computer that from day 1 has been giving me issues.
They finally sent out some in-home support. Very very nice guy, showed up today and was completely baffled as to why they sent out 1 hard drive for a computer that is reporting that BOTH hard drives are bad. Not to mention that he says the errors it’s showing are completely out of sorts. He even called the computer a lemon. When he called Tech Support at HP, the nice girl who answered had such a huge attitude as if he had interrupted her nap or something. When he told her it there was more going on with the computer than just these hard drive errors, she then decided that I needed a new motherboard. Are you kidding me?????
I received this hunk of junk on October 6th. One hour out of the box, I had a blue screen. I’ve been calling HP ever since. If I had bought this mess at Best Buy or anywhere else, I would have marched my happy ass right back to the store and demanded a new one or a refund. Instead now, I am stuck with this machine that is clearly crap and having to deal with people who want nothing more than to give me the run around. I am so fed up right now, words can not even begin to describe the level of anger I am feeling towards this company.
Today, after 4 weeks of calling almost every other day, Tech Support idiot Victor insisted I reset my computer back to factory conditions so that he would be allowed to appropriately diagnose what might be wrong. Does he not think those before him tried all that already?????? He totally disregarded the fact that I had a REAL person IN MY HOME working on the computer not even an hour PRIOR to me calling. All he could focus on was me reformatting the computer back to its out of the box condition. The amount of idiocy coming from Victor was so overwhelming, I had no choice but to record the call. He finally got so annoyed with my refusal to do anything that he ended my call. He told me he was going to take a call from someone who actually wanted his help. I really don’t see that nimrod helping anyone. I bet he’s the one who insisted I reformat my hard drive to fix the display driver error I had on my last HP. The best part was that after I reformatted it like I was told to, and reset it to factory conditions, after backing up 500 gb’s of information for 2 days the computer started up and 10 minutes later crashed due to what???? A display driver error. 1
Thankfully though, I have a case manager who insists he will do everything he can so that I can have a functioning computer. Too bad I have no way to get a hold of him right now.
So, if you are leaning towards getting an HP, don’t. Go buy a Dell or an E-Machine. Build your own. Get a Mac. Or maybe, you can get an HP and be one of the lucky ones who gets one that works for longer than a year. Hell, at this point luck involves getting one that works longer than 2 weeks.

- We took it down to Geek Squad who didn’t do much better. After looking at it for 2 seconds, they decided a display driver error was the result of a bad hard drive. Yeah okkkkk. So that HP is now gathering dust in my living room. I’m thinking about turning it into a table. [↩]
