The beginning of November has been an interesting one and I am really hoping the excitement takes a break for a while since I don’t think my nerves can take much more.
Here’s a brief rundown of my fun week:
- The day before I was due to leave town, they randomly cut off my gas.And then, this huge company which is open 24 hours a day in case of gas leaks claim that they can not come out to reconnect it until Monday. Thankfully I was out of town in a nice hotel otherwise I would have had to spend 4 days with no hot water.
- The day they were due to come out to reconnect the gas, they went to the wrong house and then claimed they would have to reschedule someone to come out again Wednesday. Of course I threw a fit the size of Texas and they decided it might be smart to come back out that day. Especially since according to them, I lived in a house with a security gate with an access panel and huge dogs, and I clearly don’t. It took them until about 11 pm to finally come out, but that was better than waiting until Wednesday.
- My phone lines died on a Thursday… AT&T couldn’t send a repairman until the following Wednesday. Normally, I don’t care whether or not I have access to that annoying ringing machine. However, we run a business now, so that’s potential clients who can’t reach us. And while I applaud AT&T for acting as though they were equally as concerned about our loss of business, the fact that we had to wait 6 days for a technician was ridiculous.
- My brand new computer, not even a month old is having hard drive issues. It keeps crashing and crashing, giving me some Raid Volume errors. I spent 2 hours (I kid you not) on the phone with the sweetest HP tech, who did everything in his power to make it so that my computer could be replaced. Not something I really want to endure because I spent 2 weeks transferring everything over only to now be facing having to back up yet another hard drive and reinstall everything. However, I can not get a new computer from HP because their return/replacement policy is 21 days. I have had mine for 26. So, today they are sending someone to my home to work on it and replace the hard drive (which I do not believe is its only issue) because I told the sweet tech that there was no way in Hell (or any other place) I was going to send my computer in for repairs and be left without one for weeks. That simply was not going to happen. Let’s just hope whoever they send out can do something worthwhile so that I can finally use that expensive piece of junk.
- My beloved little Sandy needs surgery. She has been our sick furry baby for a while now. She has been gradually losing her sight thanks to a horrific vet who ignored our concern by telling us it was nothing. Thankfully we switched vets in time to a brilliant one who caught the problem before she was completely blind. We found a little lump on her breast a bit ago and the vet is going to remove it tomorrow. She also has a hernia which he is going to fix tomorrow. I’m so worried about her cause she is such a major part of this family. I don’t know what we would do without her bouncing cuteness.
- All the rain we had been having was causing major back ups. I don’t need to explain that one any further do I?
- My office looks like a tornado hit it. And no matter how much I clean it… it doesn’t seem to get clean. It’s quite annoying!
- With my blog being wormed and all, I don’t know if I can import my files safely. Which then leaves this blog all blank and new. I’m so sad. I don’t know what to do… and I am scared to risk it. Maybe I can start another blog and import them there to see what happens… maybe. If someone knows the answer, please tell me!
And that’s just a few of my issues. Ninety percent of them happened at the exact same time. I was walking around going ‘WHAT NEXT??” It seems as though things are making a nice turn around. The business is picking up and growing in a time when we were expecting things to die down because of weather/holidays but we aren’t seeing any sign of that yet. Not to mention that my own hobby is picking up and finally becoming a dream. I upgraded my camera to a Rebel T1i which i LOVE more than anything at this moment. I have been taking pictures of everything and everyone. I am sure I have become an annoyance. I even got one or two new lenses to go with it, and soon I will be getting my PPA membership.
I was going to head to Imaging USA in January but I decided to pass on it in order to go on a nine (9) day cruise in September with my parents to see the changing colors in Canada and Maine and Boston and such and the Iraq.1 It should be so much fun since I am constantly complaining about the lack of a Fall here in Dallas. Living in the Midwest totally spoiled me. When the business grows more, I think I will be one of those people with two homes. One in Wisconsin or Illinois and one here in Texas so that I can fly back and forth whenever I feel like it. I think I am a few years away from that dream becoming a reality though.
Ok, enough endless rambling from me. I have an office to clean and an HP technician to get ready for.
Hope everyone has an AMAZING week!
