Chick-fil-A happens to be one of my greatest weaknesses. All rationale and common sense flies out the window when a Chick-fil-A is nearby.
I have been fortunate to not have one near my house, so going there is somewhat of a luxury. In desperate times when I am willing to drive 15 miles in the opposite direction from my home I know I can have some. And it makes it all the more delicious then.
There is also one nicely tucked away inside the mall which is wonderful for when I do my rare visits there. I can take care of my M.A.C. obsession, grab some Godiva chocolates,1 and and swing by Chick-fil-A all in one place. It’s absolute bliss.
I had this under control. After 2 years of living in Texass I understood my limits and when I could and could not indulge in this yummy goodness.
And then they decided to build a new one… Right down the road from where I work. It will take me 2 minutes to drive there for lunch.2
I can go there everyday.
To make matters worse, it is in the direction of home. So, I can swing by it on my way to work for breakfast and then back for dinner on my way home.
First the Del’s and now this. What’s next? A Krispy Kreme?3
And oh, speaking of Del’s… I made the mistake of Googling it and discovered that you can buy the mix and make the little buggers in the comfort of your own home.
I just got my order in yesterday.

I would be doomed if they built a Krispy Kreme too close to me!
I am so hungry and reading this post didnt help!
You are so, so, lucky…there isnt one anywhere around me…they’re always in the suburbs! Although now I can add that to the list of things to look forward to when moving to the ‘burbs…aaaand that list is up to 4 things now, lol.
Also, didn’t you know that SHIPLEYS donuts are better than Krispy Kreme? You’re in Texas now!!

I’ve never been there … we don’t have many of the yummy sounding franchises out in the rest of the country and I’m kind of glad! I have a hard enough time with the ones we do have.
Although right now my biggest weakness is Dove ice cream. OMG! It has a layer of dark chocolate gnocchi on top…oh dear Lord in heaven above.

that place is the devil. lol. that’s what i say to all, all, all my temptations. just don’t put a mrs. field’s near me, i will be the security guard who eats all the cookies.
@ chat blanc – When we lived in NM, I had to drive 2 hours to get to one.
@ Lynne – Same here. Thankfully, the closest one is so far out of the way it poses no threat to me whatsoever.
@ Athena – I must block out that Shipley’s word in case there is one nearby. I do not need any more temptations!
@ casto – I am lucky to not have fallen into the temptation that is ice cream… well other than Del’s.
@ Natural – I was in love with Mrs Fields until I discovered the Nestle Cookie Cafe… oh my… such yummy goodness. Luckily, that too is no where near me.
I was just thinking, but you’ve got the lemonade fix causing a problem, now Chick-fil-A?! And then you addressed it.
If I were you, I would do a blow out once a month, get the lemonade then drive through Chick-fil-A and get your meal, then follow that up with some Godiva chocolate.
That sounds like a solid plan to me.

LOL You could always *resist* to go there and eat healthy meals instead? No? I don’t know what I’m saying I’m sure I’d be the same if a Milestone’s (Canadian restaurant with really good food) was within walking distance to my house!

Oh my god! I love Chik-fil-a! It is my favorite fast food place ever! I would go there at least once a week. Sometimes twice. I am so glad after all these years they’ve never changed the recipe of the sandwich.

uh-oh, my fat cells are resonating in sympathy! My down fall has been discovering that the neighbourhood White Hen / Seven-Eleven sells the French Vanilla Cappuccino I used to get once in a blue moon when driving long distance (I’d get it from the gas station). That’s a gazillion calories per cup… the best I’ve done is go down from a 24 fl oz to a 20 fl oz cup… ideally I shouldn’t be going to get a cup every other day… … and that was a gateway to other things… they also sell Ben&Jerry’s ice cream… already had two this week… … so yeah I totally understand the temptation Chick-fil-A will be once it’s so close to ya … good luck…!!!
*lynne*s last blog post..… geeky movie lists – how many have you seen?
@ cardiogirl – I have considered doing the whole thing… the tour of cardiac arrest.
@ meleah – I know. It’s time for me to get my jaw wired shut.
@ Robert- Yes… I loooove chikin’
@ fragile – Resist Chick-fil-A? That is impossible!!
@ MikeC – Yes yes, I love how consistent their food is. It hasn’t changed in the 20 years I have been eating it.
@ Christopher – I LOVE their waffle fries! OMG! So good!
@ *lynne* – It is for that reason that I never try anything inside a gas station because I know I would get addicted and have to get it every time I was driving around town.
Not sure where in Texass (love the additional “s”) you are, but maybe you’ll luck out and the unfinished building will get blown away by Ike!

I think I’m lucky. You could always move to Michigan. We don’t have the luxury of having a Chick-fil-A in our state. Then again we do have other places that could probably fill that void.
I only have one near me and it’s in a mall, so that’s good. I’m not inclined to deal with the masses to get food. If there’s no drive-thru, it’s over.
Now, would you believe how dumb I am? I thought Chick-fil-a was pronounced like Chick-fil-uh. Fill-uh-what?
Back to your regularly scheduled programming…..

I am soooo jealous. There’s no Chick-fil-A places without traveling south quite a few states away. All we have is McDonalds. I’d be there every single day if I had a Chick-fil-A. Just the thought of it brings back memories.
Fresh Krispy Kreme donuts. I sure knew there were reasons I missed the South.
I don’t know what Del’s is but I’m off to google it now.

I have to mentally kick myself in the butt every time I see one of those Godiva stands in the mall… and then try really hard to run away from the temptation. Sometimes it works. More often it doesn’t.
Juless last blog post..Abre los ojos
That is definitely a problem. the way I see it, you have the following choices as to how to deal with this temptation:
1) Move away (wasn’t it you who was considering buying a new home?)
2) Change jobs. It’s doesn’t seem you like your job very much anyway and it sounds like a pretty cheap place to work so this could be a very good option to seriously consider.
3) Eat more for breakfast so you won’t be so hungry at lunch. You know you’ll be there but at least it may help to not chow down and just get less than normal.
4) Do not drive by that way going home, take the longer route and avoid it at all costs–you especially don’t want to eat that late in the day before you can even burn those calories.
5) Join a gym (or use exercise videos or follow along Fit TV exercse programs) and workout both cardio and strength training regularly so you get your metabolism going good and can eat anything then without gaining weight!
6) Go ahead and indulge everyday and weigh 300 pounds by this time next year!
Your choice. Hope this helps!

I love love love your new place!!! It looks good on you. Next, I absolutely understand your feeling towards chick-fil-a but I think my obsession is rooted in the CEO of the company. I read his book twice and come to the conclusion that he’s one of my daily inspirations.
I’ve never been to one. We had a Krispy Kreme in our area for about 2 or 3 years and they just closed a few months back.

Fortunately, I have not been exposed to the irresistible pull of Chick-fil-A.
Perhaps, once the new restaurant goes in, and it is so convenient, you’ll stop thinking of it as a treat and grow more immune to its pull. Maybe? Or should I just stop holding my breath now before I pass out?

Trouble. You are so in trouble. My “weaknesses” change… lately, I’m back on my coffee kick, which means it’s a good thing there are no specialty drive thru coffee shops between home and work. There is one about 3 minutes the other direction and sometimes….. sucks.. packs on some pounds, lightens the pocketbook. Neither of which we all really want. I’ll wish you luck, ahead of time..
My favorite fast food is Chic-Fil-A and thre’s one about 1 mile from my house. Luckily I’ve been able to stay away from them most of the time. I usually eat there about 2 times a month. My favorite thing is the 6 piece nugget Kid’s meal. It has everything I want. Then I top it off with the ice cream cone they give free. Did you know that in the Kid’s meal there is a toy. If you don’t want or need the toy you can redeem it for free ice cream??? Many people don’t know that and it seems I surprise people often when i tell them.
