I’m So Broke I Can ONLY Afford These Jimmy Choo’s

by Monique on June 6, 2008

People really piss me off.

Like seriously.

I always joke that I need to move to an island and just live in semi-solitude away from the general public. As outrageous as it sounds, the more time I spend around everyday folk, the more I think it’s a brilliant idea.

What has brought on this latest realization? Welll……

As I mentioned before, I do a lot for people. In fact, I do too much, and put up with waaaaaay too much. I think people have become used to running to Mama Mo for help and then running as far away as possible before I in turn have a chance to say HEY.

Anyway, I did a nice gesture for someone a few days ago which involved money. It was a kind gesture on my part… something my mean ass does tend to do every now and then. Anyway, she said she would pay me back when she got paid, and I was like cool… awesome.

So, the whench gets paid and declares she is broke. She’s not even sure how she will make it to the next payday. Of course, at first I am sympathetic and I feel bad but then she let’s it slip that she went and bought herself a new pair of shoes to wear to the club next weekend. And I’m not talking shoes from Payless either.

Naturally, I am now pissed.

And that got me to thinking. I have other so called friends who have done the same thing. For the Holiday’s I got all my lame ass females friends/acquaintances gifts and shit and not one gave anything back. Not for Christmas or my birthday. They were all dead ass poor and promised to get me something or take me somewhere when they got their next check. It’s 6 damn months later and nothing has happened. I’m still waiting on my spa day, my new shoes, my M.A.C. gift card, and the list of other bullshit promises that were made.

Meanwhile these people are going to rent-a-center and getting new shit just because it might look nice in their house. Not things they NEED because then I could be more understanding.

Don’t get me wrong… I don’t expect shit from people. HOWEVER when you make it a point to constantly tell me you are going to do something for me, and then claim to be broke as shit, while sporting a brand new leather jacket that wasn’t on sale but you just had to have or sleeping in a bedroom that has been newly furnished with all new Ashley Furniture top of the line items along with a new king size bed you most definitely did not need… don’t be shocked when I catch a bit of an attitude. Why not just man up and admit that you are a sorry ass person so we can move on?

That’s all I’m saying.

As the old saying goes, “Don’t loan money with the expectation of getting it back.”

You know how they are. So you just need to learn to be a sympathetic listener without feeling like you need to help them out. ESPECIALLY IF IT MAKES YOU RESENTFUL!!

Take care of yourself first. Those other people are adults, they need to learn to take care of themselves too.

Too bad we can’t rid of the scrub friends, I had a friend like that didn’t drain me financially but emotionally with her problems, it was tiring.
