But yet, I love it. Kind of.
Vista is a damn nightmare, but it looks so perty. I really love the visual aspect of it, but man alive, I have never had a computer crash so much in so few days.
The day after I got it, and loaded 99% of my former files and data, I was playing World of Warcraft. There I was, minding my business, doing the usual mage pew pew stuff (WoW players will understand my idiot speak) and suddenly everything froze. My computer started screeching like a damn banshee and that’s all she wrote. I tried to reboot, that didn’t work. I gave it a moment to calm down and the computer finally came on but nothing was going from the video card to the monitor. I finally ended up having to call my favorite customer service department to get some answers.
I actually can’t complain this time because even though he had me do the stupidest crap ever (turn this off, unplug this, wipe that, sing to this over here, yada yada yada) it eventually came back on. I was so elated I even said thank you. Nothing as drastic as that crash has happened since, but it loves to just suddenly stop working. Right in the middle of doing something, it just freezes. My old HP never did anything of the sort with XP so I have no choice but to assume it’s Vista.
But visually, it’s stunning.
Another bad thing about Vista is the constant questions it asks. Everything you do results in it asking for permission. You remember that Apple commercial where they did that? Where the security guy is saying “cancel or allow” after every friggin thing that is said? I thought it was an exaggeration. It isn’t. If I were to decide to open Photoshop right now, it would need permission. It’s SO annoying.
It’s so appealing to the eye though.
So, I guess the point is that overall it’s a really annoying operating system that often makes me want to yank all of my hair out, but oh em gee, it looks amazing.

I bet you it is Vista too…I heard complaints. Hmmm, my computer doesn’t look so bad after all. I still may get a new one down the road, but I wonder if I can install XP on it instead of Vista.

My mom has trouble with Vista too, it will suddenly shut down or knock her off the internet. It is a pretty neat program if you can get past that I think.
Yeah, Vista has a lot of problems from what I hear. It is definitely pretty too. Shame they didn’t make it run as smooth as the mac os they got the idea from. My PC would love to have a pretty OS to work with. *cry*
Have you gotten all the latest updates and such for it already? I would think at least they would fix the damn crashing and stuff. I think you can turn off those questions too, but then as the Mac Commercial said, it defeats the purpose. lol. *hugs*

It’s not just pretty, but easier to use (you can type letters of the application you want to launch on the Start->Search, you can traverse directories easily, etc)
You just need to:
- Download and install the Service Pack 1 (if you don’t know where to get it, then wait til it goes public soon)
- Turn off UAC (User Account Control): that’s the annoying pop-ups you were talking about earlier (it’s on the Control Panel, User Accounts)
Vista is great, I won’t be back to XP, seriously! ^^
